****************************************************************************** BSW Electronic Mail 03-Feb-2017 12:44:44 CET Message Number 0361 ****************************************************************************** Author: Rolf Dach Subject: Open position at AIUB Dear Colleagues, The Satellite Geodesy research group of the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB) is offering a position for a *PhD CANDIDATE* on *GNSS SATELLITE ORBIT MODELLING*. The thesis shall improve the understanding of orbit modelling for all Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in the frame of the multi-GNSS extension (MGEX) of the International GNSS Service (IGS). Based on the MGEX solution from CODE (Center for Orbit Determination in Europe, hosted at AIUB) new strategies for orbit parametrizations, e.g. for solar radiation pressure modelling, shall be implemented and tested. The orbits for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS shall be investigated, modelled, and parametrized in a fully consistent way. The project shall help to understand how potential deficiencies in the orbit modelling map into GNSS-derived parameters relevant for geodesy and geodynamics. The complete position description is available at http://www.bernese.unibe.ch/Stellen/Stellenausschreibung_20170203.pdf Please circulate this information within your institute.
