****************************************************************************** BSW Electronic Mail 03-Dec-2013 06:43:22 CET Message Number 0321 ****************************************************************************** Author: Rolf Dach Subject: Open position at AIUB Dear Colleagues, The Satellite geodesy research group of the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB) offers the position of a *RESEARCH ASSISTANT* The focus of the research activities will be in the field of *SLR DATA ANALYSIS*. Current activities in this area at AIUB cover a wide field from the combination of measurements from Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) on the level of observation equations to the analysis of observations to low geodetic SLR satellites, e.g., to determine the low-degree terms of the Earth's gravity field. An extension of the activities to the combined analysis of SLR- and GNSS-data from low Earth orbiting (LEO) satellites or to simulation studies with realistic observation scenarios is possible. Depending on the research interests and experience of the candidate the research area will be defined from this wide spectrum of potential topics. The analysis of SLR measurements at AIUB is carried out with the Bernese GNSS Software package that is also used for the GNSS-related activities in the group. The SLR-related activities are an integrated part of the research activities of the satellite geodesy group. A close relation to the other fields of the group in the area of GNSS data analysis, orbit determination for LEOs as well gravity field recovery is native.
