From bradke at gfz-potsdam.de Sat Jun 4 13:59:05 2022 From: bradke at gfz-potsdam.de (Markus Bradke) Date: Sat, 4 Jun 2022 15:59:05 +0200 Subject: [IGSMAIL-8209] Invitation to contribute to the future of the IGS tracking network Message-ID: Dear colleagues, On behalf of the IGS Infrastructure Committee we would like to invite you to participate in a discussion on the future of the IGS tracking network to be held during the upcoming IGS ?Science from Earth to Space? virtual workshop. The session has been designed as an interactive discussion that will assist the Infrastructure Committee in developing a vision and strategy to sustain and evolve the IGS tracking network, which many of you rely upon for the generation of world-class positioning products and scientific advancements. The focus of the session will be on trying to answer the question ?is the existing IGS tracking network fit-for-purpose?? To prepare for the discussion we have put together an overview of the existing network: https://nextcloud.gfz-potsdam.de/s/pyXyZN38X77Xo6i We would like you to think about the following questions: What should be the purpose of the IGS tracking network? i.e. What do you use the network for? Is it more than just the generation of IGS products? How should the IGS tracking network evolve to better support the changing needs of users? i.e. Does the existing network support all of your current and anticipated future needs (think in terms of geographic distribution, data quality, data availability, resilience, data products, scientific or societal trends)? The session will be held on the first day of the workshop (27 June) at 13:00 UTC. To register for the workshop please visit https://igs.org/igs-ws-2022 . If you are unable to attend the workshop, we would still welcome and appreciate your thoughts on the above. Please provide these via email to bradke at gfz-potsdam.de prior to the workshop.
