From hatanaka-y96bj at mlit.go.jp Thu Aug 15 01:32:43 2019 From: hatanaka-y96bj at mlit.go.jp (hatanaka-y96bj at mlit.go.jp) Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2019 08:32:43 +0000 Subject: [IGSMAIL-7818] Release of updated compression software for RINEX Message-ID: <637918df6b164821ae87a6198344c150@EMB10A.kbn.mlit.go.jp> Author: Yuki Hatanaka Dear colleagues, I would announce a release of an updated version (4.0.8) of the RINEX compression software RNXCMP. A serious bug was found in the versions up to 4.0.7 of RNX2CRX that clock offset data are periodically eliminated only when used with option "-e". If the option "-e" is not used, there is no effect. The updated software packages are available from GSI's server: https://terras.gsi.go.jp/ja/crx2rnx.html The followings are changes from version 4.0.7 to 4.0.8. - Correction of a bug in rnx2crx.c which eliminates clock offset data periodically when used with the option "-e". - New option "-d" is added to rnx2crx.c. and crx2rnx.c. to delete input file after successful conversion. - Displaying files in process and a new option "-q" to suppress it are added to RNX2CRZ and CRZ2RNX. By the way, I checked compressed RINEX observation files of DOY 210, 2019, obtained from an IGS data center. The number of files compressed by applying each version of RNX2CRX applied are as follows: (Version) (# of files) 4.0.7 455 4.0.6 117 4.0.5 24 4.0.4 40 4.0.3 100 d.2.4.3 2 It is frightening that quite outdated versions of RNX2CRX are still used. See CHANGES.txt available from the above URL for change history of the software including brief description of fixed bugs (only for after version 4.0.0). Not all bugs are harmful in all cases, but I strongly recommend to update the software to the latest version.
