From richard.s.gross at jpl.nasa.gov Thu Jul 25 08:31:22 2013 From: richard.s.gross at jpl.nasa.gov (Gross, Richard S (335N)) Date: Thu, 25 Jul 2013 15:31:22 +0000 Subject: [IGSMAIL-6799] GGOS Session at Fall AGU Message-ID: <0FAC252A-C361-425C-9A2F-96D741E6066A@jpl.nasa.gov> Author: Richard Gross Dear Colleagues - As part of the 2013 Fall Meeting of the AGU that will be held in San Francisco, California during 09-13 December 2013 I am happy to announce that there will be a session on "The Global Geodetic Observing System: Past, Present, and Future". The description of the session is given below. On behalf of the conveners I would like to draw your attention to this session and encourage you to participate in it. We are developing a rich session that will cover the past, present, and future of space geodetic observing systems and their deployment in networks spanning the globe. We hope that you will be able to join us in San Francisco for this exciting session. More information about the 2013 Fall Meeting of the AGU can be obtained from its web site at . Please note that the deadline for submitting abstracts is 06 August 2013. Hope to see you in San Francisco! Best regards, Richard .......................................................... G026: The Global Geodetic Observing System: Past, Present, and Future The IAG?s Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) provides the fundamental ground- and spaced-based geodetic observations needed to improve our understanding of the Earth?s variable shape, rotation, and gravity. Modernizing existing ground-based systems and developing future space-based systems will enable greater understanding of the causes and consequences of these variations. This session is a forum for discussing past, present, and future geodetic observing systems and for their use in improving our understanding of the dynamic Earth.
