From stefan.schaer at aiub.unibe.ch Mon Nov 10 06:12:29 2008 From: stefan.schaer at aiub.unibe.ch (Stefan Schaer) Date: Mon, 10 Nov 2008 15:12:29 +0100 Subject: [IGSMAIL-5854]: Three new GLONASS-M satellites active Message-ID: <4918414D.10205@aiub.unibe.ch> ****************************************************************************** IGS Electronic Mail 10 Nov 06:12:53 PST 2008 Message Number 5854 ****************************************************************************** Author: Stefan Schaer Dear IGS/IGLOS colleagues, We got confronted with first IGS/IGLOS tracking data of the three new GLONASS-M satellites launched on 25 Sep 2008, namely: R18 (724) on 17 Oct 2008 (day 291) R21 (725) on 27 Oct 2008 (day 301) R22 (726) on 06 Nov 2008 (day 311) With these three new satellites, the GLONASS-M constellation now consists of 16 satellites: R06, R07, R09, R10, R11, R13, R14, R15, R17, R18, R19, R20, R21, R22, R23, R24. The only remaining active GLONASS satellite of the older generation is R04. The CODE GNSS orbit products include currently up to 48 satellites (32 GPS plus 16 GLONASS). It should be mentioned that current data of R09 (722) is considered useless and is therefore generally excluded from our analysis. IMPORTANT NOTE: There is still a significant number of IGS/IGLOS GNSS receivers which is not yet ready for zero or negative GLONASS frequency channels. This is an unacceptable situation, especially since already 8 (of 17) GLONASS satellites transmit their signals on these frequency channels: R09 (-2), R11 (0), R13 (-2), R15 (0), R17 (-1), R18 (-3), R21 (-1), R22 (-3).
